I havn't seen that myself and frankly don't understand why two words like "drink driving" should be critized.....

What really puzzles me about this story is the passengers on the bus are determined that the driver was "guzzling" booze all the way while driving the bus and swerving all over the road........could not one of them have called the police?.....not a mention if any of them tried to take some action.

And then? Guess they would have to walk if they didn't get beaten up first.

You think calling the police is the solution? TIT klab.

one you can control yourself and not relying on some drunked up stupid maniac

If I die on a Thai road it will only me to blame and I have traveled over 90,000km on Thai roads and neighbouring countries

You're 100% right.

I have always been controlling my own mode of transportation, one driver ME, in any country.

I  been driving on Thai roads for over 40 years and still do as an 80year old, motorcycle and car.

I drive my mc daily to where I do my exercises and home again through really heavy traffic, 1700 afternoon, and dozens of time had to do emercency stops but I am in control.

Never ever will I be a pillion passenger on a motorcycle as I will lose control.

I've had over the years plenty of near misses and could stop the car or mc in time, not relying on some drunk driver.:shock1:

Which mode of transportation is safer on the roads?

Driving yourself will always be safer. If you are a careful and defensive driver with a well maintained vehicle, you never drink and drive, and don't drive at night. If you absolutely have to take public transport, take a big bus, a modern air-con one, but avoid night time travel. Never ever a minivan. Always take the train, if that is an option. That's definitive.

You fail to mention that even when driving yourself you cannot avoid the other stupid drivers and riders on Thai roads. I agree about the train and big VIP buses though - I always go by big bus during the day upstairs in the middle and wear a seatbelt.

How can you guarantee if you die it will only be you to blame?  I don't want to get into a "pissing contest" Please.  However IMHO accidents, happen.  People run red lights.  Kids run out from after balls with no notice, oncoming drivers have blowouts on a 2 lane highway.  Your statement makes no sense.  Sorry. Plus the statistics are there...

driving a vehicle is a skill that you learn - you can take courses to advanced levels, these learned skills go way beyond the minimal requirement in most countries for the average road user, I was lucky as my training was free and I was also involved in motorsport, as for advanced training - I would highly recommend it to anyone and it would be money well spent - I agree that you cannot cover absolutely every eventuality but you can most definitely reduce the risks and improve your chances to avoid - my point is simple - if someone else does something stupid, I am in control and very well prepared and equipped to avoid it, if something does happen then I will always lay some of the blame on myself and I am talking about driving incidents not freak accidents like a tree falling or being struck by lightening - the manual doesn't cover that

Simple advice I give to anyone that goes riding with me - ride within your own limits not mine - if they act like a lunatic and put me and themselves  in danger I will  stay well behind - offer some guidance and if they continue will likely not ride with them again

Please this thread is an attempt to raise awareness of the dangers of DUI.  I have also raced cars and motorcycles.  I have done the Skip Barber/BMW Performance Driving school twice.  I don't feel as "confident" as you.

"if someone else does something stupid, I am in control and very well prepared and equipped to avoid it"

Well what's your answer to getting "T boned" by a tractor trailer running a red light.?  Or a driver in the opposite lane getting a blow out and doing a "head on."  Construction materials blowing off of trucks!

" I am talking about driving incidents (as am I) not freak accidents like a tree falling or being struck by lightening" ( not talking about Lightening strikes or trees falling). Please stop it.

This is not a performance driving thread.  Please stop trying to highjack it. It's about driving under the influence of alcohol and or drugs.

Not about your expert driving skills for the last time.

Skip Barber/BMW Performance Driving school twice

lol, never heard of it - my guess would be a trackday course run by BMW for people who want to go sideways or not as the case may be nothing remotely to do with road safety, but hey you keep telling yourself how good you are since you did do it twice lol

You very obviously have no idea what an advanced driving course is and beyond that there are specialist courses for people who need advance skills for occupations like police - ambulance - military etc

Well that is me told LMAO, are you really attempting to moderate this forum, if you don't want to read my (on topic posts) then just put me on ignore, I will make a guess you are from the USA
