53 Thais arrested at food event return from Malaysia

By The Sunday Nation

Malaysian authorities have released 53 Thai citizens from the deep South who were arrested for selling goods at a “Thai Food” event in Melaka City in January without permission, the Southern Border Provinces Administrative Centre (SBPAC) said yesterday.

Deputy SBPAC secretary-general Somkiat Polprayoon, who welcomed the returned group at the centre’s head office in Yala province, said the Thais had been found guilty of illegal entry and working without permission at the event after its organiser failed to obtain proper documents for them.

The Malaysian legal process was completed early last week and the 53 were released on Friday night.

Any of them found carrying VX?

Fair enough, this is what the Thai authorities to to any foreigner without the correct paperwork.

What's good for the Thai government is good enough for any other government.

Has seen stuff like this happened many times in Malaysia. Agent for the work shows up with all the paper work and permit. Few days or weeks in the work already and suddenly the immigration shows up and  finds all paperwork to be falsified and the foreign worker has to pay a bribe or be jailed. Careful

Love your signature btw. At times I believe Orwell was a time traveler. So much of what he wrote about seems to be coming to fruition.

Whats good for the Goose is good for the Gander

Well Done M

Not difficult to get a temp permit especially for a special event like a 'Thai food' event. The event will be immensely more successful if the vendors are actual Thais, and not hired immigrants.

Unfortunately, there is no evidence Orwell said it.

Good guys in and bad guys out.

If only it were that simple.
