Police told to be more vigilant to prevent a repeat of suicide incident at Wat Dhammakaya

 

The Department of Special Investigation held a meeting with concerned agencies to assess the situation at Wat Dhammakaya in the wake of a suicide incident Saturday night and to map out their next move in the efforts to arrest Phra Dhammachayo, the former abbot of the temple.

 

Attending the meeting this morning were the new director of National Office of Buddhism, Pol Lt-Col Pongporn Pramsaneh, former head of the DSI’s Tax Cases Division, and representatives from the Royal Thai Police Office, the Local Administration Department and the military.

Why don't they take all of these Dammakaya followers to the lunatic house 

 

1. to protect them from harming themselves (suicide e.g.  = a more harmless variant of the muslim suicide bombers)

2. probably they have mental problems otherwise they were not in this place

Those who believe in 2500 year old superstition must all have mental issues. Fools that really think by giving money to "Monks" and they will get it back in the next life must be bereft of any common sense.  Especially whilst those self same monks enjoy the riches of their donations by flying business class, renting private places, owning luxury cars etc etc.  the list is endless thanks to the absolute brainwashing of so many, desperate to cover their own sins in this life.

Do you think they have more or less mental issues than this who believe in a 2017 year old folk tale?

Buddhism is not a 2,500 year old superstition and is nothing to do with belief, unlike the theistic religions of the world. It's a philosophy which if followed sensibly can only be of benefit to the individual. The superstition that has been added to the philosophy in Theravada Buddhism is nothing to do with the philosophy itself, it is a human corruption of said philosophy. What's happening at Wat Dhammakaya is a cult with very little connection to Buddhism.

Depends what people believe,  most if not all Religion/Cults are the same

The "authorities" seem to be more interested in eliminating this sect, than trying to find the abbot.

 

I wonder why?

 

I do have to applaud the "Junta's" efforts though; they are conducting an efficient operation utilizing many, many resources. 

 

I do hope that they are able to minimize the casualties.

there are a sect and should be dismantled. My maid used to give all her money each month then struggled, they suck it all up and I tried to get her to stop but she was too brain washed. She went there for a few meditation sessions and that was it... 

She is no longer my maid, but she was really great... sad sorry

Hard to differentiate. I have known some ponzi schemes in my lifetime and they always have a link to religion to make them more believable and salable.

But the Thais don't use Buddhism as a philosophy. It's a magical religion to them with spirits and an afterlife.
