February 26, 20179 yr NCPO removes Buddhism Office chief BANGKOK, 27th February 2017 (NNT) - The National Council For Peace and Order (NCPO) has invoked Section 44 to remove the chief of the National Office of Buddhism (NOB). The Royal Gazette website has issued the order signed by Prime Minister Gen Prayut Chan-ocha, stating Phanom Sornsilp has been stripped of the post of the NOB's director and has been appointed a special inspector at the Prime Minister’s Office. The NCPO explains its decision is intended to revamp a state organization and to solve urgent problems which cannot be handled by conventional means. The transfer of Mr. Phanom to the Prime Minister’s Office follows the ongoing manhunt of Phra Dhammajayo, the abbot of Wat Phra Dhammakaya who is wanted for alleged involvement in embezzlement. Pol Lt Col Pongporn Pramsaneh, Director of the Bureau of Taxation Crime under the Department of Special Investigation has been named the new NOB director. -- nnt 2017-02-27
February 27, 20179 yr Quote Phanom Sornsilp has been stripped of the post of the NOB's director and has been appointed a special inspector at the Prime Minister’s Office. Inspecting his bellybutton while drawing a salary. "Look, Gen Prayuth, I found some lint."
February 27, 20179 yr It sounds like Mr. Phanom may have balked at "following orders" which he may have found to be immoral and illegal. Can't say I blame him. The "Big P's" need to just step up and issue the orders themselves; they granted themselves amnesty, and have no problems gunning down citizens. But then they may desire "cover"?
February 27, 20179 yr Bit like the Italian army dismissing the pope from office. Maybe they will replace him with a general. Edited February 27, 20179 yr by Thechook
