Advice For Young Person Wanting To Work Abroad For A Year?

Featured Replies

My niece (age 19) wants to do the year abroad thing, so naturally has come to her globe-trotting vagabond uncle for advice. She doesn’t have the resources to just take time off and be a bum, and wants to have some sort of work. I know there are such programs out there for young folks (au pair agencies, etc.), but not sure if there is any such thing in Thailand. She’s only high school grad, so won’t qualify to be a teacher. It would be great if she could find work here, so me and Mrs. Lung Ling could look after her, but from what I see, there’s not much available. She’s also mentioned Australia as a possible destination, and I know a lot of you are from there. First, does anybody know of a work/travel program for young people, either in Thailand or Australia, and second, are they reputable and legitimate?
