Criminal Record Check Document - now required for ED visa.

Featured Replies

It seems that from today, at least here on Koh Phangan, that when applying for  a Education visa I need a criminal record check document from my UK embassy.

Cant see any thread on here about this but would appreciate being pointed in the right direction if there is one.

Has anyone ever had experience getting hold of one of these ?

How did you do it please ? Managed to get one by calling or emailing embassy ?

Any help is much appreciated.

I doubt you will get anything like this from the embassy, the normal procedure is to apply for one in the UK and they don't send them just anywhere either, it needs to be a proven correct UK address from what I recall (few years back though) just in case you're trying to get someone elses details which would of course breach the data privacy laws.

If this is the case then it's another hoop to jump through and quite a big one at that.

I have never heard of anybody needing a criminal background to get a non-ed visa and then an extension at immigration.

The UK embassy does not do them. You would have to apply for it here on the ACRO site. https://www.acro.police.uk/police_certificates.aspx

Anyway this is the 2nd thread today stating that one is required, judging from the other posters username both in the Samui or surrounding area

It may be the education ministry office in Surat Thani that is requiring it. It certainly is not a requirement to get a non-ed visa or extension at immigration.

Yes I believe that is the case.
