Thais deport more than 300

Featured Replies

More than 300 undocumented Cambodian migrant workers were deported from Thailand on Tuesday afternoon through the Daung International Checkpoint in Battambang province, according to local media. While border officials and police in the area were tight-lipped, a stringer for Koh Santepheap Daily who asked not to be named said he was given the information from a military police official who he declined to name. “The official sent the report and picture to me, but he is not in immigration,” he said.

“If we ask them more, they won’t answer. They only do the report for their superiors. He is a military police official.” The report said 315 undocumented migrant workers, 147 of whom were female, were sent back through the Daung checkpoint from different Thai provinces.

Kamrieng district deputy police chief Tith Kol hung up on a Khmer Times reporter. District police chief Kim Punlork said he was not in charge of immigration issues and referred questions to Sao Borith, the chief of Daung checkpoint. Mr. Borith said he had no information about the case because he was in Phnom Penh and referred questions to his deputy, Sa No, who said he was no longer working at the checkpoint.

Every border check point send people back, not sure if they have a system, like people arrested in BKK send via Poi Pet, people arrested in Pattaya send via Daung, people arrested in Chantaburi send via Ban Pakkard, people arrested in Trat send via Klong Yai, etc.
