webfact
U.S. House panel to probe possible Russia-Trump campaign collusion - Democrat REUTERS Representative Adam Schiff (D-CA) waves after speaking at the Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, U.S. July 27, 2016. REUTERS/Gary Cameron WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The U.S. House of Representatives intelligence committee will investigate allegations of collusion between Donald Trump's presidential campaign and Russia, the top Democrat on the panel said on Wednesday. "We have reached a written agreement, the minority and the majority in the House intelligence committee, that we will investigate allegations of Russian collusion with the Trump campaign," Democratic Representative Adam Schiff said on MSNBC. U.S. intelligence analysts have concluded that Russia tried to help Trump win the White House by discrediting Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton and her party through cyber attacks. President Barack Obama, a Democrat, expelled Russian diplomats in retaliation in December. Trump has denied any of his associates had contacts with Moscow before last year's election and dismissed the controversy as a "scam" perpetrated by a hostile news media. Moscow has denied the accusations. Representative Devin Nunes, the Republican chairman of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, said on Monday U.S. intelligence officials had not yet presented the panel with evidence of contacts between Trump campaign staff and Russian intelligence. Nunes was a member of Trump's presidential transition team. The committee, which has been probing contacts between Trump's campaign and Russia, said in a statement that Nunes and Schiff had agreed on a classified six-page document laying out the scope of their investigation. It said one question they would seek to answer was whether the Russian actions included "links between Russia and individuals associated with political campaigns or any other U.S. Persons." The statement did not refer specifically to the Trump campaign. Earlier on Wednesday, Nunes told Fox News that the committee would receive a briefing from intelligence officials on Thursday. Trump fired his first national security adviser, Michael Flynn, last month for misleading Vice President Mike Pence over his conversations with Russia's ambassador to the United States. craigt3365
This needs a proper investigation. If nothing is found, then great. But it needs an investigation by an impartial panel. I know the latter is a very difficult thing to find in Washington! LOL
Andaman Al
Enough fuel for a very large bonfire! Oh Dear! Quote Sessions met with Russian envoy twice last year, encounters he later did not disclose Quote Then-Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-Ala.) spoke twice last year with Russia’s ambassador to the United States, Justice Department officials said, encounters he did not disclose when asked about possible contacts between members of President Trump’s campaign and representatives of Moscow during Sessions’s confirmation hearing to become attorney general. One of the meetings was a private conversation between Sessions and Russian Ambassador Sergey Kislyak that took place in September in the senator’s office, at the height of what U.S. intelligence officials say was a Russian cyber campaign to upend the U.S. presidential race. It seems the swamp just gets more swampy by the minute. Quote At his Jan. 10 Judiciary Committee confirmation hearing, Sessions was asked by Sen. Al Franken, a Minnesota Democrat, what he would do if he learned of any evidence that anyone affiliated with the Trump campaign communicated with the Russian government in the course of the 2016 campaign. “I’m not aware of any of those activities,” he responded. He added: “I have been called a surrogate at a time or two in that campaign and I did not have communications with the Russians.” https://www.washingtonpost.com/world/national-security/sessions-spoke-twice-with-russian-ambassador-during-trumps-presidential-campaign-justice-officials-say/2017/03/01/77205eda-feac-11e6-99b4-9e613afeb09f_story.html?utm_term=.390818a466ec All these commie lovers would either have been jailed or run out the country 30 years ago. lannarebirth
Congressmen and Senators meeting with Russians is pretty normal stuff, but I agree with Craig, investigate it. If there were any improprieties, shine a light on it.

Silurian
Sessions lied under oath. Sessions must go! Attorney Generals have to be held to a higher standard as their position demands. He knowing lied under oath and this is considered to be the crime of perjury. He either resigns or should be forced out of office. Emster23
I can't wait to see what sort of loop de loops some republicans may use to avoid this investigation, considering the investigations of Hillary's emails and the 7 or so Behghazi investigations. They are old school Russians, their President was a member of the KGB, he was head of their Intelligence agency. Once a thief always a thief. You will be telling me next that a leopard does change it's spots. They are a bunch of Russian commie b******s, you know the type that the USA faced off against for 75 years rather than colluding with them as it does now. The USA may as well use the constitution for kindling. Putin even wants to go back to the 'good old days' of the Soviet Union. I hope Sessions is hung out to dry but I won't hold my breath. Neurath
“Have you been in contact with anyone connected to any part of the Russian government about the 2016 election, either before or after election day?” “No,” Sessions responded. Now all it will take is for intercepts of the Russian Ambassador's communications to confirm that the confabulation did indeed cover the 2016 election. A blow job isn't sexual relations and Sessions was talking only about issues NOT related to the 2016 election. Sure, sure. This stink will get worse. Sessions is bankrupt. Andaman Al
Here it is. Perjury 101. How does it go? "lock him up, lock him up". It may be worth remembering that it was Sessions who led the call for Bill Clinton to be prosecuted to the laws full extent over his alleged perjury.
