eliotness
Just a few months ago the government stated that the unrest in the South was reducing. Since that statement things seem to have actually got worse. RIP soldiers,, your leaders have lost the plot.
edwinchester
Be interesting to find out if there were anymore soldiers in the patrol than the 3 killed.
Srikcir
Not a government designated "safe zone." But then a year ago Narathiwat’s Joh I Rong district was designated a safe zone and was immediately attacked by the BRN. Thus far, safe zone designations have actually invited insurgent attacks by BRN which the military has attempted to bypass in peace talks with other smaller insurgent groups. Prayut must share responsibility of spilt blood with a reckless and failed approach to peace talks.

Seems to have made it work in reverse. Edited March 3, 2017 by Brer Fox
FitnessHealthTravel
So much for the peace talks. When will they learn these people don't want peace, they want a piece of Thailand for their Rogue State. Build the Wall!!!
JAG
Be interesting to find out if there were anymore soldiers in the patrol than the 3 killed.Yes it would. One of the principles of patrolling in an urban area with that sort of threat is to operate in " multiples" - 4 or more small groups moving through the area, in a coordinated planned way, linked by radio, with a designated commander. That way if there is a shooting or so on there will be a rapid response to support the brick attacked and close down the area to prevent the opposition escaping. Sadly I suspect the orders for this "patrol" were: "Cpl Somchai, take a couple of the lads and poke around the market a bit, to see what you can find." Yet again, soldiers have died unnecessarily. Very sad

You mean a return to their Islamic Kingdom of Patanni before Thailand (Kingdom of Siam) forcibly annexed it? Or just go back further to when it was Hindi and buddhist, or back before that or before that.
Get Real
Yes, again! Now it happened. Soldiers die in insurgent activities. Innocent people die in the same. Military stands like glued to the ground. When is somebody going to do anything?
