dddave
Urgent question. Friend just called me...He and his Thai GF are scheduled to fly to Luang Phrabang, Laos late this afternoon (Sunday) He just discovered her Thai passport has expired. I know Thai nationals without a passport can enter Laos with a border pass from a land crossing but his question was, can she fly from Bangkok to LP without a passport, ID card only? I doubt she would be allowed to board but thought I would ask.
ubonjoe
The border pass can only be obtained at an office prior to crossing at a land border. The not available when flying into Laos. She will not be able to board her flight with an expired passport.

NanLaew
As stated by ubonjoe, the border pass is only available at the land crossings and notably limits the visitor to the city limits, ie. Vientiane, Mukdahan, etc.. Travel into the Laos interior such as onward travel to Luang Prabang is prohibited on a border pass. I think it also has a limited validity, such as 48-hours?
