The potential fish seems to have been hooked, lined, landed, gutted, battered, made to seem out of it's depth when it got netted with the correct bait after the use of an inaccurate trawling technique. ( sorry is that enough (b) puns for you? or do you want some more common plaice comments to add salt to the wounds. (I am jesting with you "sharktooth", but with your "posting name" on this particular topic I felt I had to take the bait and re-enter the "bun fight", not mocking you-please take this in fun).

 

The net result seems to be that this topic has returned to normal service.

 

Please, all of you, enjoy the rest of the normal posts. I and the rest of the normal thinkers hope we will be allowed to do so without resort to anymore lateral thinking.

As a general rule in Thailand, I avoid ocean seafood unless I am within 100 km of a sea coast. some squid and shrimp might be an exception if it looks and smells fresh. But as a general rule eat seafood when you can see the ocean (and even then it is no guarantee).

 

For the first time, I saw Mahi at the Rimping supermarket at Meechok a few days ago. The tag said it was from Bali. The whole fish was on display and it looked and smelled fresh, so I bought some and it was delicious. Not cheap though, at 750 baht/kg.

spell correction

TOPS the other day they had  Salmon on ice, uncovered on display.

One piece had a fly stuck on it and I pointed this out to the guy and he picked it off with his fingers.

Later I came back around and some unsupervised kids were standing in front of the fish poking it with their fingers.

Good one. Love Mahi Mahi but have never seen it for sale here. Will have a wander over tomorrow.
