Medical stay visa extension in thailnd

Featured Replies

I recently had a fall and have a broken bone in my left arm which is currently in a cast.

I will need an operation to repair the bone soon

I am currently staying on a tourist visa.

The doctor going to do the operation will write me a letter explaining that due to the operation and the requited period or rehabilitation I will not be able to leave the country for a period.

He will address this letter to the immigration office here in Bangkok.

He has done this before for other patients and he assures  me I will given an extension to my current visa to stay in Thailand for my rehabilitation period.

I will have the operation next week, and he expects a 60 day recuperation period.

I am 71 years old , which may delay the healing process due to my age.

For those of you who ask, this is the normal process used in Thailand for hospital visa extensions, or so I am told.

I will let you all know how it goes.

You can't travel because your arm is in a cast?
