My extension of stay will end on 8 march 2017, I will go to Chaeng Wattana this day to request a new 1 year extension (I already made one last year).

The problem is I keep the 400.000 THB on my account since only the 17 February 2017, it will be 21 days on 8 march, less than the 2 months requirements.

What will happen?

Will they reject my extension and tell me to leave Thailand without delay? Sould I prepar a plan B to get a new visa at bordering country (Laos, Vietnam, Singapore, etc…)?

Will they give me an extension for 2 months until I can prove that I hold the 400,000 THB for at least 2 months?

Thank you,

Yann

They will not accept your application since the 400k baht will not be in the bank long enough.

Best not to wait until the last day.

You can apply for the 60 day extension to visit your wife unless you have gotten one before on the entry you extended. She will need to be with you when your apply.

Thank you to both of you,

I didn't apply for the 60 days extension. just did a 1 year extension last year.

Will i have to pay 1900 THB for the 60 day extension and then again 1900 THB for the one year extension?

Any update on this?

I confused my visa dates and I’m in the same boat. I can apply for 2 month extension to show my 400k? Or have the rules changed now?

No changes.

You can still get a 60 day extension to visit your wife to get more time if you have not gotten one previously since you entered the country using the visa to get the entry you have been extending.

Sorry Joe, I'm trying to decipher your wording above...

Does that mean there is a limit of ONE 60-day extension for visiting the wife purposes per what???

--per visa issued outside Thailand?

--per extension issued inside Thailand?

--per entry into the country?

So for example, my last visa was probably 10+ years ago. But I've had 10 years of annual extensions of stay since then.  So what would that have meant for my ability to obtain the 60-day extensions during all that time?

Both per entry into the country, and per visa issued outside Thailand, due to that they will be considered the same once inside. The 60 day is an extension. There is no problem making a one year extension on the same visa after making a 60 day extension already.

Your last question is not an issue, due to that you choosed 1 year extension instead of 60 day extension on you original visa.

If you are on an extension of stay that means a entry using the visa that gave you the permit to stay you have extended.

A entry using a re-entry permit is for the same entry you may of done long ago so they do not count as new entry.

You would not be able to apply for a 60 day extension if you already had gotten one in the past 10 years or so.

So then you're saying only ONE 60-day extension to visit the wife is possible per actual VISA issued by a Thai Embassy/Consulate abroad...

FWIW, I've never ever applied for or received that kind of 60-day spousal visit extension in all my years here. But I guess it's good to know I actually could still get one if needed, 10+ years after my last actual VISA issuance.

Not only a entry from a visa issued by a embassy or consulate. One can be applied for a visa exempt entry.

Not exactly. I think its ONE 60-day extension per entry into Thailand? I got a 60-day extension for marriage by just flying into Thailand on a 30 day visa exempt entry.

OK, but my main point was, a person who gets annual extensions of stay for marriage or retirement is only entitled to ONE 60-day spousal visit extension based on their most recent actual VISA....

If I'm understanding you right, a person on successive marriage or retirement extensions couldn't use the 60-day extension as an add-on each and every year, or multiple years.....

That is what I have been trying to say.

Best not get one while on extensions or to apply before the first one unless you had no other choice since that would be the only one you could get without going out for a new visa.

Never understood that before... Thanks for the clarification...

So that would work great for someone on O-A visas, who's going out of the country every year or two to get a new O-A.

But not so great for someone who entered on a visa years ago, and has been doing annual extensions of stay ever since, and not getting any kind of new visa.

That or a multiple entry non-o visa since each 90 day entry can be extended for 30 days.
