The lack of awareness here is dumbfounding. The Thai news media like the Bpost and Nation repeat government propaganda without doing their jobs.

Most people don't even know the money laundering charge is a junta distortion and the credit union was repayed and dropped all charges but the other temples, universities, etc. that received money have not repayed, not been charged and no promises to repay the credit union. This country is going broke and looking at the temples wealth.

You mention distortion, you comment in advance on your own post...

The security forces should go in at say 2am. Go in fast and go in hard. Make no announcement about it before it happens. It will be over very quickly.

No doubt and with bloodshed.

Rightly or wrongly Thais don't touch monks and generally avoid violent confrontation*, especially with their own people. All part of the culture and values.

This is well displayed in the temple situations over the last quite a few months, as soon as it gets near violence the various authorities quickly back off.

Revisit the actions of abhisit and chuan leek pai for a couple of examples.

(*There are exceptions of course - just mentioning that before el tries to twist and distort.)

Just truck in a few bus loads of southern Muslim troops, they don't have the same hang-ups

Of course what you say is true there would be bloodshed. However the early hours would give the enforcement a big advantage and the bloodshed would be kept at a minimum

Call it twisting or distorting, but the vast majority of people the Thai army has killed in recent decades have been Thai. I fail to see how Thais generally avoid violent confrontation. Yes, there can be a lot of arm waving and attempts to cool things down, but it's usually a case of all or nothing. Fair fights rarely happen. Tactics are usually dirty.

I don't disagree, there have been instances where nasty thug generals have had no hesitation to engage in violence with unarmed Thai civilians. in 92 a gang of three had no hesitation to kill some 200 unarmed protestors just 2 kilometres from my home.

There are also politicians who have blood on their hands long with the generals they ordered to shoot or to seriously injure unarmed people.

Overall they, fortunately, represent a very small section of the forces.

And the SS represented only a small section of the German army but they managed to knock of a few million innocent civilians. The point I am making is that irrespective of the percentages it happened and as Sunderland said, the Thai army has indeed carried out killings previously, so this minor issue should not present a problem. Could get the Burmese Army in to help,  they don't shy away from popping a few violent so called Monks. Be good for Bi country cooperation.

Your response is not relevant, just diversion, we're not talking about the German army or about hitler.

You can deliberately construct a negative hypothetical case about anything if you determined to.

Wouldn't work. remember Suthep when his accounts were freeze. Many will be willing to donate. The junta government is fast running out of ideas and getting desperate. 3 more days to the 5 days date-line and not an inch of the temple taken.

Less than accurate post and misleading, your usual stuff.
