Competition continues! 50/10 3BB Fiber 590 THB/m

That is the cheapest fiber package from 3bb.

Before they only had 1200 thb/m option. Then they added 900 thb/m one.

And now this? It is great for those who can get it and don't want to deal with VDSL (not for condo residents, they probably has to deal with VDSL).

I wonder where they'll stop increasing speeds and reducing prices. Competition is great!

Now I expect AIS to do the same (hopefully)

I'm thinking AIS may not offer any new speed plans and pricing until it releases its HBO/Cinemax/premium TV channels supposedly in the Apr-Jun time based on a media release I saw a month or so ago....and Apr is not far way if they release as early as Apr.

AIS Fibre use to have a 200Mb/10Mb plan but it disappeared after a few months...guess they didn't get many customers and just decided to drop it for now.  Now, they have  PowerHome and/or PowerPro plans rangning from 30Mb to 100Mb and then take a big jump forward to a 1000Mb package which is way too pricey for most folks and overkill for the common internet man.   Just seems AIS needs some plans like 200Mb, 300Mb, etc., like True now offers....something to fill in that 100Mb to 1000Mb gap.

When you look at ISP's old advertisements when googling all the ISPs have had some many different speed plans and some many different prices.....plans and pricing that are constantly changing....new speed plans appearing....old speed plans being discontinued....new pricing...etc.

With fiber optics being deployed around certain parts of Thailand at a pretty good pace, I expect plans and pricing will continue big and frequent changes over the coming years.

Good thing is, they are investing to spread fiber nodes to increase fiber coverage. In my home country, no ISP will spend money to cover single homes with fiber. They only choose to invest in condo style projects.

Let's go back in time to Sep 2012 and take a look at 3BB fiber plans and pricing courtesy of a Sep 12 post by Jalapenos.  Open his post below to see the old prices and plans

I remember they had 30/3 for 1200 + vat in 2012 or 2013. I was using True docsis 20/2 and then 30/3 in 2012 - 2016 era.

Me too regarding True DOCSIS (cable)...was on their 20/2 plan also for Bt1,299/month in 2012....a year or two later downgraded to their DOCSIS 15/1.5 plan at around Bt600/mo when it came out as a promotion....and didn't notice one bit of difference in international speed from their 20Mb plan...and for surfing domestic sites I couldn't tell the difference between 20Mb or 15Mb.

Heck, 5 years from now we'll probably have 1000Mb plans at around Bt1,200/mo versus the current 100 to 200Mb plans at around Bt1,200/mo.   But unfortunately a lot of people will not be able to take advantage of those really fast fiber plans because they will be living in places (be it in the sticks or city older high rises) where only xDSL is only available in the 50-75Mb ballpark....where fiber gets close to their residence but not quite there....like Fiber-to-the-Building with the final X-meters "within" the building needing to be copper line xDSL causing a chokepoint.

I see AIS did come out today with some new, minor pricing adjustments on their PowerHome plans.   Probably reacting to their competitors.     And I saw one ad showing the HBO icon but when clicking on it it just talked Facebook Games.  Still no 200Mb plan like they had before.  Was hoping they were announcing they HBO/premium channel pricing also, but didn't find anything of substance on that....guess that is still to come.

50 mbps become more affordable.

So, did they reduce your 100/10 package price to 999 baht?

3bb 50/10 still cheaper than AIS but AIS has thddns port mapping and public ipv6 and probably better international speed.

50Mb plans will be very popular plans primarily because that's about the fastest VDSL speed which will be possible in many high rises.  Although VDSL can go up to around 80Mb over a short distance it requires a good quality copper phone/xDSL line....and I expect a log of high rises (especially older ones) do not have good quality lines when splices, switches, etc., is considered....generally fine up to 50Mb, but beyond that.....

Actually VDSL can go higher speeds.

Right now I have VDSL from 3bb at mooban (fiber was 1200 thb / month only so I had to stick to vdsl) and they put cable more than 200 meters long.

According to modem, I can get 90 - 93 mbits with current numbers.

Unless you live in 50th floor in some old condo, I think they can provide 100mbit without a problem.

Yeap...VDSL2 can go up to around 100Mb max, but that's really under really good conditions.  That 80Mb I stated is really more of a conservative number for good lines vs laboratory type conditions.
