Constant problem with Hotmail refusing to open

Featured Replies

Each time I come to Thailand I have the constant problem of Outlook/Hotmail refusing to open claiming in breach of security certificate etc. This was on Firefox but before on Chrome it would open normally. Now Chrome has gone as well. IE the same

VPN or no VPN makes no difference. I had same last trip but that was with just few days left. I'm going to have to abort trip entirely without access to it from Laptop.

Any suggestions (other than change provider !) Trouble is the filing cabinets are full of 20 years plus details.

Only 2 options: Change  provider or continue putting  up with MSN headaches.

Its sodding ridiculous. Have had to try internet shop last night but same problem. Message one of my boys back home telling him to go into account and pull up my flight reservations (stored in filing cabinet) and theres no problem.

I'm no techie so have no idea how to somewhere save the filing cabinets or even if I can if I switch to AOL or another provider

Those outlook/msn accts aren't worth the trouble. It's not the advice you want but the easiest solution is opening  a gmail acct. Transfer your important files to that acct  and a USB stick for back-up.  Much simpler, especially for a non-techie.

AOL is even worse than Hotmail, so you definitely dont want to do that.

Hotmail is IMAP compatible and so all your data should be easy to transfer to any other email service that is also IMAP compatible. Gmail is one such, as mentioned, or if you care to pay a small fee (USD12/year), I can recommend PolarisMail. They have good support who will help you transfer your data.

It´s just depends on that the login you are using is country specific. By sending a mail to Hotmail or MSN, you can give them the information that the e-mail account should work both in Thailand and your home country.

I have done that with both Hotmail and PayPal, and it´s working fine now.

Have you faced this problem in other countries?

Each time I travel abroad, my Hotmail account blocks me being suspicious to my new location and informing that someone trying to hack it. I’ve tried many methods to stop it from locking me, but nothing worked. Anyway, now I use google mail that works pretty good (but in some regions it operates with vpn only).

Ive found a "work around" for now....Using Chrome google Hotmail and when I click on "sign in" the system is opening up on the basis I'm already logged in.

Thanks for all suggestions. May migrate it all to Gmail when back home
