Thunderstorm warning for 33 provinces

The Meteorological Department has warned people in 33 provinces to watch out for thunderstorms and strong gusts.  The warning was issued on Sunday. 

 

Bangkok, Chon Buri, Sukhothai, Ayutthaya and Rayong are among provinces predicted to be hit by thunder showers and strong winds on Sunday and Monday. 

 

People in these provinces have been advised to avoid being in the vicinity of large trees or insecure billboards during the thunderstorms. 

 

In the past, storms have uprooted trees and brought down many advertising billboards, leading to casualties.

Outbreaks of summer thundershowers remain over the upper country with possible thunderstorms, gusty winds in following regions:
- North: Uttaradit, Sukhothai, Pichit, Phitsanulok and Phetchabun
- Central: Chai Nat, Nakhon Sawan, Uthai Thani, Lop Buri, Saraburi, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya, Kanchanaburi and Ratchaburi including Bangkok and its vicinity.
- Northeast: Udon Thani, Nong Kai, Bueng Kan, Sakon Nakhon, Nakhon Phanom, Mukdahan, Kalasin, Maha Sarakham, Roi Et, Khon Kaen, Chaiyaphum, and Nakhon Ratchasima.
- East: Nakhon Nayok, Prachin Buri, Sa Kaeo, Chachoengsao, Chon Buri and Rayong.
During 19-20 March, outbreaks of summer thunderstorms possibly decrease in the North and the Central while they remain in the Northeast and the East.
People stay safe and keep off outdoor places due to the severe weather conditions.
Continuous extension of high pressure remains the upper Northeast, and the westerly waves covers the North and the upper Northeast of the country forcing up to summer thunderstorm outbreaks.

Would be nice if commercial vehicle drivers including those minivan idiots read this, and prepared their vehicles properly - tyres in good condition, brakes in fine working condition, steering properly connected to the front wheels, and for once - drive according to prevailing conditions. I know, it's a hopeless dream...

Agree , the next thing we will be reading on Tuesday will be ' Carnage on the roads in 33 provinces as many minibuses are seen slip sliding away due to water on the road and water on the brain ' 

Not part of the warning, but I was awoken by thunder in Phuket early this morning.

It's utterly stupid isn't it? I really can't understand why. I mean, when summer is approaching, the sale of air-conditioners go up. Similarly, when 'winter' is around the corner, people break out their blankets, comforters and arctic outfits. When walking out into the rain, people will either take an umbrella with them, or a raincoat or simply wait for the rain to stop before moving on.

 

Yet, this very simple and basic human logic seems to vanish into thin air the moment these minivan and commercial-vehicle gits get behind the wheel. I'm not one to care about their lives if they can't be arsed to take care of themselves - they can drive into a tree for all I care, as long as they don't kill the tree. It's the loss of innocent lives (those of passengers and other road users) that I hate to see.

They are not wrong for the North East (Mahasarakham ) we have had mega storms and rains for days now and no sign of letting up :-(

My wife arrives at don mueang in a few hours today and im arriving tomorrow morning... Hope it wont be too bad...

It rained most of last night here in Kata, sporadic outbursts until 3pm and now it is chucking it down and no sign of Big Buddha - shrouded in cloud.

 

Still kinda warm though :)
