Travelers beware - X-Ray machines on arrival set to increase

Featured Replies

Interesting. I have been through Swampy countless times in the last 11 years, 1-4 trips a month every month. So far I have never had my luggage checked, not once. The closest I got was when I saw a long line at one exit, I went to the other and no one was checking there...

I will take more care to be sure i don't have extra smokes however, as that is all I ever get in duty free.

As the guy in front of the machine screen will be sleeping, we are still safe <3

Yes but such a scam and good money earner for those in the procurement chain to buy this equipment also.   Corruption first, safety second in Thailand.

Surely if there ever was  such a thing then a "Corruption Scanning Device" would qualify the inventor a Nobel prize surely. Possibly a death sentence should he/she ever set foot in Thailand though.

Travelers beware?

why?

maybe the headline should be "smugglers beware!" Or similar.

Expect longer waits for your luggage to arrive.

Why?  I thought they were increasing the number of X-ray machines at the exit from the Customs hall, not adding machines to scan the luggage before it gets to the carousels.

There is no way they will be able to handle the numbers...its way over their heads....there is no way!...Thai employees will in no way be able to handle this task in any responsible way given the volume of incoming at one time

This is just stupid..

The amount of luggage that arrives at the airport when a few 747s

land is huge, absolutely huge...No way they will be checking

all that luggage..Not in a million years...

Wanna bet ?  They will because they do not seem to worry about delays to tourists i.e. immigration / passport / visa check can be a long process at Suvarnabhumi . I have seen these x ray machines in operation at Suvarnabhumi when passing through the " green zone nothing to declare " and they cannot cope with the many tourists and the majority were waived through . If all baggage is to be x rayed in 2018 there will be further delays . Maybe it will pay to go through the " red zone " and innocently declare something small that is not liable to tax . ( dont know if the x rays will be used in the " red / green zone "  or when the baggage leaves the plane on route to the carousel  .
