BANGKOK: -- A scary video is doing the rounds of Thai social media that shows a mobile crane colliding with a traffic light and crushing a motorcycle.

The accident happened in the Tiwanon area of Pathum Thani and the CCTV footage was shared to Youlike.

It shows a mobile crane approaching parked cars at the San Mae Ooi intersection. The driver appears to suffer brake failure and avoids cars in his path by veering to the left, reported Sanook.

Despite not going fast he is still unable to stop and collides with a traffic light. A waiting motorcyclist realizes the peril he is in and tries to move out of the way.

He appears to get free but his bike is crushed as the crane comes to a halt some meters own the road.

Sanook.com said that the intersection was well known for incidents of this nature. It was not reported if the motorcyclist suffered any injury.

This means it's karma and nothing could have been done to prevent it.

Fell out of the way more like it. He got lucky. Very lucky.

Haha

Aha it's that famous Thai excuse again

Brake Failure.

More like dozed off, drunk or drugged up or on mob phone.

I'll go with the 1st two. ?????

Maybe the horn failed to. Should be a big rant on this flavor of the day and then move on.

Because it also didn't work....mai pen lai...

I think it's time the Thai start checking those mobile cranes more often, accidents like this happen far too often here.

A brake failure at 10kph , nasty

No expert but has brake failure and stops.

It was an intermittent brake failure

Thats nonsense.

They just need to figure out which animal is the spirit animal of that intersection and then put down hundreds of little statues of that animal.

That will fix it.

He knew that if he beeped the horn somebody would have pulled his gun out...

One lucky guy on that bike

The motor cycle rider certainly had an Angel looking after him. Note the way the traffic light pole was pushed over as the crane came through. The m/Clist was lucky to stay in the narrow channel between the crane as it passed through and the traffic light pole. Tight space alright!!

Hope he bought a lottery ticket!

Horn disconnected, to save the battery.

Or at least clean underpants...

Of course the crane was immediately impounded for checking along with drug and alcohol testing of the driver - - nah! didn't think so.

just like the brakes disconnected to save air !!

Don't trucks like this have air brakes which fail ON?

Should be Fail-safe

I suggest going forward that brakes on all vehicles are removed and replaced with amulets.

Come on, do you expect him to have a horn when he has no brakes.  These things come in three's.  Brake failure, horn failure, brain failure.:sorry::wai:

Naa...practice for Thai New year.

Despicable excuses for accidents,Wake up you morons, force  them to do inspections every 3 months or put the vehicles off the road if they not pass inspection.

Yes you are right all trucks have fail safe brakes, if you lose the air the brakes come on and you stop dead.
