Alfa
Hi There, I have a friend who is coming to Thailand for the first time. I am here with a retired visa yearly. I don't know more. This guy is also retired but wants to stay here about 6 months maybe 8 months. I know he can get 1 month when he arrive from Europe , And he can make it to 3 months if he leaves the country and come back, But can he make it longer ? What does he need to do ? Thanks in Advance,
ubonjoe
I would be best if he could get a multiple entry tourist visa (METV) from an embassy or consulate before starting his trip. The visa will allow unlimited 60 day entries for 6 months from the date of issue. Each entry can be extended for 30 days at immigration. It is possible to get almost 9 months of total stay from the visa by doing an entry just before the visa expires and extending it for 30 days. At the least he should get a single entry tourist visa. That would allow a total stay of 90 days before needing another visa. Without a visa he would get a 30 day visa exempt entry that can be extended for 30 days.
