Southern provinces warned of heavy rains

BANGKOK: -- The Meteorological Department on Monday warned residents of southern provinces to brace themselves for heavy rains from Monday to Friday.

 

In the announcement issued at 11am, the department said Chum Phon, Surat Thani, Nakhon Si Thammarat, Phatthalung, Songkhla, Pattani, Yala, Narathiwat, Phang Nga, Phuket, Krabi, Trang and Satun would see heavy rains from Monday to Wednesday.

The department said heavy rains would also fall in Prachuap Khiri Khan, Chum Phon, Surat Thani, Nakhon Si Thammarat, Phatthalung, Songkhla, Ranong, Phang Nga, and Phuket on Thursday and Friday.

 

The announcement explained that a low-pressure zone from Malaysia would move to cover southern Thailand from Tuesday to Thursday.

Heat For Now, Then Rain This Week

Muggy, cloudy downtown Bangkok Monday afternoon.

 

BANGKOK — Expect a hot couple days this week before a 1-in-3 chance of being soaked with more rain Wednesday onward.

 

According to forecasts, Bangkok and the central, east and northeastern regions will see highs of 36C through Sunday, with a 40 percent chance of heavy rain in the back half of the week.
