Just wanting to confirm as I was under the impression that if I left Thailand before my 90 day reporting period was due (technically 92 day point but still the accepted period) then I would not be required to make a report until another 90 days are up?

Entered LOS on a Multiple Entry OA Visa

Left the country after 6 months having done 1 90 day report

Returned 4 weeks later with a new 1 year stamp until March 2018

Also to get another year stamp is it necessary to leave and return to the LOS before the first entry stamp in my passport or the Visa date of issue.

Cheers

There is a window for 90 day reporting in person: 14 days before to 7 days after. But, that window only applies if in fact you make the report.

Since you did not, when you make your next report, in June, it is likely that you will be fined 2,000 baht.

Your O-A visa has a stamp that says "Enter Before ...".  If you exit Thailand and return on or before midnight of that date, you will receive a Permission To Stay ("Admitted Until ...") that is one year later than the day you come back.

After the "Enter Before ..." date has passed, your O-A is expired. From that point forward you will need a Re-Entry Permit to exit and return without voiding your Permission To Stay. At the end of that one year Permission To Stay you must apply at Immigration for a one year extension and meet the conditions thereof, primarily the financial proof.

  • You only need to report if you stay continuously in the country for 90 days.
  • When you leave the count stops, and the day you re-enter is day 1 of a new 90 day count.
  • You must report or leave within 97 days to avoid the late reporting penalty.
  • To maximise your stay using the visa you need to leave/re-enter as close to the visas 'enter before' date (expiry date).

No it's not.

They can only fine someone that stays continuously in the country for more than 96 days. As the OP only stayed 92 days they cannot, based on the rules, fine him.

Great thanks for that.

In another current thread where this same topic is mentioned, UbonJoe said " I have heard of person being fined for not doing a report when leaving after the report date when they did their report after the trip because the officer noticed they failed to a do a report that was due before leaving. No likely but possible. Better to do the report than risking the standard 2000 baht fine that can be up to 5000 baht. "

I have a similar question, I am leaving the country on the same day as I am supposed to make the 90 day report. Not returning for a few weeks. Do I need to make a 90 day report on that basis?

If you leave on or before the 90th day a report is not due.

Noting that does not include the 7 days after to 97? Is that correct?
