say . . . . . does anyone know if i can change my marriage visa to a retirement visa in-country . . . or do i need to leave the country first . . . . cant find anything here about it, but have seen guys doing it the other way (not sure why) and it seems i just need to go to immigration 3 or 4 weeks before my next check in . . . any help here will be greatly appreciated . . . . thx

You can not change reason for extension before the present one is close to expire. Not inside Thailand anyhow.

 

If you really wish to change, than you need to leave Thailand without an re entry permit, purchase a new Non Immigrant O, and go back again, and apply for an extension of stay based on retirement.

You cannot change visas without leaving the country.

If you have an extension of stay (it is not a visa) based upon marriage issued by immigration you can change to one based upon retirement without a problem.

You will need 800k baht in a Thai bank for 3 months or proof of 65k baht income or a combination of the 2 totaling 800k baht.
