Hi,

wonder if anyone can help?  Does anyone know of a reasonable company in CM area that can carry out soil / wood treatment for termites (sub terranean)

Many years ago we used a company on a 3 year contract, but lost their details. My place has the underground piping installed, it just needs a company to come and pump a suitable chemical into it on a regular basis. Also to treat the wood and the surrounding ground around the house.

I would do it myself if I could be sure of the correct chemicals to use, the only one that looks suitable in our local shops is Chaindrite Stedfast (SC30) The white bottle with the orange cap.

The last company we used charged around 15K Baht on a 3 year contract, they came out about 4 times per year, pumped under the foundations twice per year and ground / surface treatment every 3 months, we never had a termite problem.

I contacted Rentokil and those guys want 23K to pump the foundations ONCE and treat the ground around the house 3 times with a spray! (Very expensive)

Thanks.

Your talking a lot of money there

First of all Google is your best friend

On doing some research & watching the Pest Control do a neighbours place ( i have also had it done before) I believe the Thais do not do the piping  under the slab as in home land countries ( looked to me as though the man was waiting for the liquid chemical to come out of the end of the conduit )

Where as Falangs would have 1 inlet going into maybe 4 non exiting pipes

The Thais must have weirs under the house as they pump quite a lot of chemical under the slab & ONLY needs to be done every 5 or so yrs  ( but i just did mine & was no problem of it taking 50 lt into each inlet - used small pond pump )

So if i was you I would get the company to do your first spray as the under the slab one will be your most crucial from the pumping side of things then after they finish spraying around the house for a yr go buy a 5 lt spray bottle & do it yourself with the above mentioned chemical

All that being said & in Korat the Pest Control guys will charge 4500 bht (some times have specials ) & i would no doubt think it should be halve the price if not cheaper to continue just with external spraying of the house after the first year

I buy a 5L can of chemical for 3500B

Do you pump it under the concrete?

I am able to buy a brand new Honda GX160 + All the pump equipment needed for less than the Rentokil one year price. (I already buy the 3500 Baht SC30)

I have already got piping installed under the foundations (Black plastic with the screw in spray nozzles - the type the Thais use for irrigation).

I saw most of it being put in but cannot recall whether there is a return pipe at the other side or whether the pipe is blanked off.

If you are pumping under the house, what sort of volume do you fill given the area in square metres?

Thanks!

Thanks,

no way am I paying 23K, I only paid 15K and that was for 3 years and included fitting all of the piping underground!

I am going to give it a go myself, I just need to pick up one of those high pressure piston pumps the Thais use for spraying crops ( I can put it to good use on my fruit trees so it is worth the 5-6K Baht). I already have a Honda Engine, just need to get it running nicely again.

What chemicals are you using?

I have been trying to find some of that "stealth" chemical that allows the termites to walk through it and eat it etc. it then gets transferred back to their colony and kills the lot. Termidor is one brand, but I have never seen it in Thailand.

Now that you mention the 15'000 included fitting piping then thats ok

You dont need a high pressure pump but up to you  as i only used a tiny pond pump i had lying around ( cost maybe 300 bht )

Just the one with the Orange cap

Looked like the pest control man was pumping maybe 300 ltre into the pvc under house going by the blue tubs he had ( A typical small double story moo baan house )

PS : Going by falang standards you most probably use a pressure pump due to the non exiting tubes

But now i recall why i only put 50 lt per inlet as i found on Google that it was half ( 25 lt ) per every 10 ft ( 3 mtr )

I have 6 inlets or maybe some outlets but just pumped them all

I pay 7,000Bht per year, the guy comes 4 times per year and pump through the pipes under the house and spray around everywhere each time.

The cost depends on the size of the house, I am probably be on the high end side of the cost.

Reliable, call 089 263 4335 or 086 116 8805, thai speaking only.

That is overkill for termites in most places.  Once a year is usually enough if not more than enough.

Quarterly spraying for a year will take care of most insects for several years, no need to do it every year in most places.

You can buy Thai brands of either Fipronil or Imidacloprid. These are systemic and get carried back to the nest. There are multiple brands of both and we just instruct the pest company on what termiticide we want and how much to use. We buy 2 liters of termiticide that they mix with 2 barrels of water to cover about 250 square meters of land under our house by pumping it into the termite reticulation system. We also had closable brass inlets installed on all of the dozen or so external square columns so they are filled as well. Plus they spray some around the house. I used to pay around 600 Baht per liter of termiticide plus 4000 Baht for a pest control contract which included four site visits per year but my daughter thought we were paying too much so she took over. That's all the details I have now that I have been made obsolete.

Exactly, as mentioned google is your friend

The pest man only does under the slab once & google says no need to do for another 5 yrs

& as for spraying aroun house just go & buy a 5 lt spray bottle & a 300 bht bottle of chemical concentrate

For all you guys paying every yr they are totally ripping you of especially if they say they need to do under the slab (probably spraying water)

I've had pest control service for quite a while now with a local pest control but my termite service ended some years, didn't know that. Been having quarterly exterior and interior services for just pest control. What are the chances I could still have termite even though I've been having perimeter pest control for years now.

Hello,

Recently I am shifted from Canada to Australia and here I have a pest control problem with my new home, and I have less knowledge about this new place...

So, please suggest me some best companies for pest control.???

Thank you in advance.

I have been using CNX Pest Control for 11 years now.

Never had a problem with them

081 951 0891 is the number I have now, but it was different in my post from last year. I'm afraid I don't know why, so if you have no luck try the other, but definatley Thai Only
