Business registrations in SEZs grow by 15%

BANGKOK, 18 April 2017 (NNT) - The Department of Business Development (DBD) has revealed a 15% investment growth in construction in special economic zones (SEZs).

According to DBD Director-General Banjongjitt Aungsusingh, the number of business registrations is higher in the SEZs than any other business areas which have seen a combined growth of only 7%.

Most business registrations in the SEZs are construction companies accounting for 14% of all business investments. Banjongjitt also cited the need to expedite the construction of basic infrastructure and other important facilities in the SEZs in order to attract more investors.

Foreign investments value at more than 2.7 billion baht in all 10 SEZs while Malaysian investors are responsible for up to 55% of all foreign investment activities. Many of their investment projects, mostly related to natural gas and rubber, are in Songkhla and Narathiwat provinces.

Needs to have some perspective. How has it been since the peaceful changing of the guard (Government). So will more Government money be spent down South to encourage the Muslims communities to spend more?
