zoza Posted April 22, 2017 Posted April 22, 2017 Sorry about this I have searched for an answer but I am still not sure, I will be going to the UK in July and my NON-IM-O (retirement) is valid until October, if I have to stay in the UK past this date does my NON-IM-O expire? or will a re-entry permit be of any use or do I have to start the application process again when I return. I think I know the answer but just checking. cheers.
ubonjoe Posted April 22, 2017 Posted April 22, 2017 If you have a non-o visa a re-entry permit would only keep the remainder of your current 90 day entry valid. I think you might be calling an extension of stay based upon retirement issued by immigration a non-o visa. In this case a re-entry permit would only be valid for entry up to the date your extension expires. After that date you would only get a 30 day visa exempt entry unless you got a single entry non-o visa or tourist visa before traveling.

A re-entry permit is issued for a permit to stay not a visa. In the case of an entry from tourist visa it would keep the remainder of the 60 day permit to stay valid when entering the country. It adds no days to the permit to stay it was issued for.
Roger Lee Posted April 22, 2017 Posted April 22, 2017 Sorry to keep asking, so the days out of country prior to the re-entry usage count against the permission to stay duration?

The days out-of-country do not affect the "permission of stay" date, which the re-entry permit preserves "as-is."
reenatinnakor Posted April 22, 2017 Posted April 22, 2017 It depends on the immigration officer... And you not saying anything to alert them that you're on a re-entry visa. I had re entry stamp on a 60 day tourist visa, but when I came back there was only 20 days left, so I would get more days if they give me a visa exempt stamp rather than apply my re entry stamp. The officer didn't see my re entry stamp and gave me a 30 day exempt... On which I could get another 30 day extension after! So from potentially only having another 20 days o got another 60 days!
