webfact Posted April 25, 2017 Share Posted April 25, 2017 Giant King Cobra returned to nature in joint Thai/British rescue operation Picture: TNews SAMUI: -- A four meter long King Cobra was successfully returned to its habitat yesterday in a joint rescue operation conducted by a Briton and Thai locals. Phillip Brook, 45, had been asked to help last week when the snake got entangled in some netting near a fish pond on the island of Koh Taen off Koh Samui, reported Tnews. Mr Brook runs a snake rescue group on Samui and is an expert in the field. He managed to extricate the snake and took it away to recuperate at his facility. Yesterday with the help of locals on Koh Taen the snake was returned to its cave-like dwelling on the beach. A round of applause rang out as the snake slithered out of the limelight - a Thai man explained on video that the locals believe that King Cobras are important guardians and should not be removed from their homes He said that in his experience King Cobras cause no problems for people. Good thing that island is so sparsely populated, so that snake can thrive in its chosen environment. That beautiful creature deserves to left in peace, and good on the rescuers who helped it.
