ISPs given 7 days to erase illicit content from servers

All internet service providers (ISPs) have been given seven days by the broadcasting and telecom regulator to block illicit webpages and content deemed illegal by the court or they may have their licenses revoked.

 

The new move followed a special meeting Wednesday called by the National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission. Representatives from the Ministry of Digital Economy and Society, the Defence Ministry and Technology Crime Suppression Division were also present at the meeting.

 

After the meeting, NBTC’s telecom committee chairman Col Settapong Malisuwan told the media that the move was intended to deal with illicit content that is still left in the ISPs’ servers.
