rooster59
Rice farmer killed by lightning in Phichit By The Nation A farmer was killed by a bolt of lightning when he went out to check his water pump in Phichit on Friday night. The wife of Supoj Chanyo, 38, found his body on a walking path at their rice field in Moo 6 village in Tambon Thapmun in Phichit’s Taphan Hin district the following morning. Phatta Siri, 26, told officials that her husband went out to check the water pump at 8.30pm on Friday and did not return home. She thought he had stayed overnight at a makeshift hut to keep an eye on the pump. But when she came out to check the rice fields following a thunderstorm, she made the horrific disovery. He had sustained a large wound his right temple and severe burns from chest to feet. Phichit Governor Weerasak Wichitsaensi later visited the family to provide help. KhunBENQ
Very dangerous to walk out to an open field when lightning is around. Never be the highest point.
Crossy
Indeed ^^^, we lost a family member last year, struck whilst fishing. He died despite laying flat in his boat, the highest point doesn't have to be very high
Stargeezr
Being outside during a lightning storm is dangerous, fishing in a boat is crazy. Being in an open field or near trees and pumps etc is asking to get hit. RIP to this farmer who found out the hard way. I saw a cow In a field get struck and was steaming for quite a while. The cow ended up upside down after being struck, I wish I had a camera back in those days to get the picture, I was glad that I had made it to our barn before the lightning started in the area Geezer
