American arrested for living without passport

Preah Sihanouk provincial police on Saturday arrested an American man for living in Cambodia without his passport. Provincial police chief Chuon Narin said the man had been living in Sihanoukville without his passport for six months before police arrested him. He first moved to Sihanoukville in 2015.

“On Saturday evening at 6.30pm, the office in charge of immigration arrested one American living in a rental house…without having his passport with him,” Mr Narin said in a Facebook post.

Police said they believed the man was mentally ill. Deputy provincial police chief Khun Sorithy said the suspect was in the custody of the Immigration Department.
