I have applied for Extension of Stay based on marriage for the past 4 years through Nakhon Pathom Immigration office with no problems.

Now with the new office open in Ratchaburi, much closer to home, last month I submitted all my paperwork in accordance with form TM 7 and was told to come back in 1 month after the usual assessment period...pretty standard.

I show up yesterday and present my passport with my file number....they couldn't find me in the system. Ten minutes later they come out with my paperwork that I submitted a month ago.....they forgot to send in to Bangkok Head Office! I said ok....just send it in now.....no no no.

I had to go to the bank again today, pay another 200 Baht to get the letter and copies of my bank statement, then go back to Immigration, they made me fill out another TM 7 form with todays date AND make me pay another 1,900 Baht.....all because they forgot to forward my original paperwork. All during this, they were trying to make it look like they were giving me an extra month leeway and I should be grateful....not once apologising for their blatant incompetence.

Now I have to wait another month for assessment....my concern is, when it gets to Head Office, they will see that I am one month late and who knows what their reaction will be. Because I am sure as hell know that Ratchaburi will not inform Head Office that the one month delay was their fault.

Has anyone else had a similar situation to mine?......also should I be concerned or just sit back and assume that all is normal?

Cheers.

I can't think of any reason why the "Head Office" would reject the application. The stamps in your passport should make it obvious that you made an application a month ago. I wouldn't worry.

Outrageous that they charged you another 1,900 baht though!

Thank you for your reply.....I tend to agree with you, but as you know, stranger things can happen when it comes to government officials.

Once again thanks. Cheers.

As said all should be fine and I would be inclined to eat the extra expense - they could not use the original TM.7 now because of the date on it so a new application would be required and there is no provision for refunds for TM.7 submissions and all extensions cost the same 1,900 baht fee.  Unfortunate but probably best not to stress over it.

You should have a recipt for the origional placing of the paper work plus the bank can verify you got a letter re balance for tbe first date. There is a hotline you should ring on this as its obviously gross negligence im sure ubon joe would know the number.

Thank you for your comment.....but I tend to agree with lopuri3....really not worth the hassle to pursue something that would maybe have detrimental effects for the future....as I need to go back to that same office for 90 day reports and further extension of stays....just have to take it on the chin.

But I do hope there are no repercussions for the 1 month "delay".

Cheers.
