There is nothing like avoiding a question when it will set you in a bad light. Stereotyping is either acceptable or not acceptable. Which is it?

Can anyone name any powerful male figure here who's in the army, police, politician, etc, who is openly gay? Not an actor or singer. Thailand may seem like a very open society when it comes to homosexuality, but it's still way behind in my opinion. How many times have I heard "He's not a real man" meaning he's gay. I don't think the concern is the sexuality or gender, although I am sure some officials don't like it. I think the issue is appearing in uniform on the invitation.  I am also pretty sure that had he been in uniform and marrying a woman, their would have been nothing mentioned about it.
