Agencies warned ahead of explosions in Pattani, says police chief

BANGKOK: -- A police intelligence unit warned other agencies of a possible car bomb attack about an hour before a double explosion at the Big C shopping mall in Pattani, Police Commissioner General Pol Gen Chakthip Chaijinda said on Thursday.

 

“The authorities managed to prevent damage up to a level,” Chakthip said.

 

On Tuesday afternoon, more than 60 shoppers, including children, were injured when a bomb exploded inside the mall followed by a second car bomb explosion at the mall entrance.

No police were hurt in the explosion.

If they knew about it in advance, why the hell did they not clear the area? Many innocent people could have been spared injury, had they actually done ANYTHING with that knowledge.

The bombs went off and 60 injured. The police must have a pretty low level of measurement. I will put that as a police intelligence failure.

Just a massive but lame and misguided face-saving attempt. Basically, they knew jack$hit and even if they did know something, have done absolutely nothing about it. Officialdom here loves to underline their ineptness, you see.

The 'agencies' probably did not know where the attack was to be, so may not have been able to do much in the short time available.

Well they still stuffed up didn't they, they chased the people from inside the supermarket outside Towards the ute full of explosive.IS that intelligence or what?
