Reconciliation feedback shows concerns in inequality, frustration in violence

BANGKOK, 15 May 2107 (NNT) – A nationwide survey on reconciliation has shown that the general public's concerns are focused on land rights inequality, water management, and government services, while the government is promoting reforms in many sectors and seeks to end corruption.

Head of the reconciliation work preparation council, the Public Relations Department, Maj Gen Kongcheep Tantravanich disclosed that nationwide surveys and small group meetings during 28 April - 8 May 2017 have been quantified, with the input to be processed and collected according to the academic principles for further references.

He has said the feedback gathered from provinces shows the general public's concerns remains in administration and inequalities, particularly land rights, water management, pricing, unequal access to education, healthcare, and the nation's justice system. Feedback from participants in Bangkok highlights concerns on corruption, media and education reform, unequal law enforcement, and the unequal distribution of income to rural areas.

All feedback will be published in a document, which will be later compiled into a draft social contract within mid-June. Issues related to inequalities in rural areas can be solved immediately by the government through public participation.

Maj Gen Kongcheep has also added that different views are both normal and acceptable, as reconciliation aims to allow different views to coexist peacefully in society, while upholding the country's best interests.

Maj Gen Kongcheep Tantravanich is also Defense Ministry Spokesman who was complicit with the military's coverup of Prayut's secretly planned purchase of Chinese submarines.

His level of credibility must be carefully gauged.

Scared to even think about pushing the Like button in response to what I think you are thinking. It's getting that bad!

I can see the government crack down effecting my g/f's thinking. A bit of paranoia is setting in.

The last 6 words are the most important. All I can take away is that it is their way or the highway no thinking needed.
