The Cambodian Mine Action Centre yesterday recovered two 500-pound bombs, believed to have been dropped by US aircraft in the 1970s, in Kandal province’s S’ang district. CMAC director-general Heng Ratana said the US-made MK82 bombs were defused and removed after the centre was notified by local villagers.
 

“The bombs have been safely removed and transferred to Kampong Chhnang province’s CMAC to be defused,” Mr Ratana said. According to data released in 2000, the US dropped two million bombs  from 1963 to 1975 intended to wipe out Viet Cong invaders, but more than 500,000 Cambodian citizens were killed and thousands of homes were destroyed.
 

Prime Minister Hun Sen has in recent months increasingly been using the bombing as reasoning for the US to wipe clean its 1970s war-era debt which has since swelled to $500 million. However the US ambassador to Cambodia has insisted that the US will do no such thing.

Its no wonder they want to stop being the world's policeman. Nothing to be proud of here. 

Will they send the US a clean up bill?
