Can anybody tell me whether this snake is poisonous or not .Found it on my verandah, about 6 inches long.

Hard to see the scales on the head in the picture ! From the photo it could be a baby cobra, tree snake or anything else...

You have rice fields, pond or water source nearby?  Looks like a rice paddy/water snake, had one in my garden once, hanging around front fish pond area going after small frogs.

Yes thats the one and the pond is right behind my house and I did see a bigger one about 30 inches about a month ago in the pond.

 

Thanks for your help , I'm glad it's not poisonous.
