Hello Forum,

This past April I entered the country with a ME Non-O based on having a Thai child.

The stamp in my passport says I need to leave the 1st of July.

I just wanted to verify again what the procedure would be to continue my stay here.

When should I go to Immigration and ask for my 60 day extension, and what are they going to ask for?  Once this 60 day extension expires I'll have to leave the country either by air/land renter, and then I will receive an additional 90 days, which then I will be able to extend for another 60?  I can keep doing this up until my visa expires correct?

BTW it will not be possible for me to legitimize my child, because we are waiting on marriage documents from my home country.  I do not think we will be married by the 1st of July, and I would rather wait to get married than having to pay an attorney to legitimize the child legitimization.

If I get married before my visa expires do I need to get a new visa?

Once my current visa expires, and I have already gotten married what happens if I cannot shown the income or fund requirements in the bank for a new ME Non-O based on marriage?

Your child will need to be with you when you apply for the 60 day extension to visit your child. It would also be good if their mother could be with you also.

You will need their birth certificate plus a copy and a copy of their house book registry. You will also need proof of residence.

You can get a 60 day extension of each entry but need to pay attention to the enter before date on your visa. You can get another 90 days if you enter the country on or just before the enter before date. You can get almost 17 months of total stay from your visa by getting a 60 day extension of the that last 90 day entry.

Getting married will have no effect on your visa. It will remain valid until it expires.

You can get a multiple entry non-o visa based upon marriage in Savannakhet without any financial proof. If you can show 400k baht in a Thai bank for 2 months or proof of 40k baht income you could apply for a one year extension of stay based upon marriage at immigration during the last 30 days of any of the 90 day entries from your visa.

Thanks again ubonjoe,

My first 90 day entry expires the 1st of July 2017, is it possible to get the 60 day extension 1 or 2 days before this date?

Does the 60 day extension start from the day it is granted?

You can apply for the extension a couple of weeks early. The extension starts from the end of your 90 day entry.
