The mother of the teenage girl who reportedly provided sex service to a senior official as part of the Mae Hong Son forced prostitution ring had claimed that she was asked not to pursue charges against the accused official, Federation of Assistant District Chiefs of Thailand chairman Boonyarit Nipawanit said on Friday.

She was told that it was for the sake of country’s reputation, he added.

Boonyarit said the Nonthaburi-based Tambon Ban Mai Administrative Organisation president would also request that the Department of Special Investigation to take up the investigation into the scandal to ensure justice for all sides. He added that Provincial Police Region 5 investigators seem to be rushing to close the case involving Ban Mai politicians.

Boonyarit claimed that the ring reportedly sent four girls to provide sex services at a resort on September 22 last year and sent three girls to provide sex services on September 23.

Urged. For the sake of the country's reputation. Yeah, that works.

Hopefully she's not susceptible to rare blood disorders, lead poisoning or "getting lost".

"She was told that it was for the sake of country’s reputation.."  Shameful, hiding behind this farce of a reason.  The request to forget it is what the "country's reputation" is really about.  Again, shameful.

Me thinks U mean waking up dead or just disappearing.

We all know that Thais care way more about "face' than anything else, so justice is a very minor thing compared with that.

If it can help a few high up officials escape jail time too, most of them will see that as  a win win, and disgraceful as that is, this is Thailand.

What reputation ?  actually it would be worse for the reputation of the country,if

witnesses were forced to retract their statements,it would just go to show how

things work here,if you are rich or influential ,you can get away with anything.

Disgusting!

Reputation?

The best thing for Thailand's reputation would be to charge and prosecute all the offenders.

Pure Thainess, but what can you expect. From a third world country?

For the sake of the country's reputation.

7 words that says everything about the country and the mess its in.

It happened as it does most days of the week here, yet please do not tell the world as it will make us look bad

Wake up the world knows, but it appears some here do not have the education to understand that outside the borders people IQ's are a lot higher than here.

So charging an influential person will be bad for the countries reputation, quite the contrary it is influential and hiso's getting preferential treatment that's bad for the countries reputation.  Charge this piece of and lock him up to start restoring reputation.

"For the sake of the country's reputation"

if you can't give yourself amnesty this is the next best get out of jail free card, disgusting.

"She was told that it was for the sake of country’s reputation..."

Is he kidding!!! ? It's that "reputation" that brings in billions of sleaze money every year. If they start cracking down on the Hi Sos and government officials, can the sex tourists be next?

Then they would have to start competing with countries that have industries which produce marketable and useful goods. Considering Thailand would be starting when other real industrial countries are turning around the 16th pole, the economy would tank.

Let's call a spade a spade, sex crimes happen everywhere. What tarnishes the countries reputation is pretending it doesn't happen here and trying to sweep it under the rug with the ridiculous simplicity of stating we'll not say it happened and therefore it never happened.

What reputation Oh thats right the most corrupt country in the world NO 1 Hooray lol So she is been made to feel bad because she opened her mouth Omg how unfair is that? Just saying dont say anything honey to many high ranking officials are involved and they were just having fun Just shaking my head here The culprits are just going to walk free

She was told (to drop charges) for the sake of country’s reputation

The best way to protect the country's reputation - if it still has one worth protecting - is for police, politicians, monks, government officials and other worthies to stop raping children.

Such acts are the reputation of the country.  Thus to preserve the reputation of the country she should continue to press charges for the sake of tourism.  These cowardly fake faced w**kers have it backassward and want to play the 'I'm important' get out of jail card.

how about some decent, yes, decent compensation for the tattoo for life victims................so much that it will never happen again and the girls can live a life of luxury.

I hope that some day Thailand will be a democratic country that knows it has corruption troubles that have

to be properly addressed and the people who are breaking the law will go to jail, lose their reputations, and positions

of work, whether they are politicians, military, police. or the very rich.  Today the military are running the country and

their leaders should try to end as much corruption as they can while they still are in power. Mae Hong Son is only one of

the places in Thailand that is corrupt, and it Is not alone. For anyone to tell this brave woman to drop charges, they should

go to jail for trying to have her stop her efforts.
