YetAnother
this is their official response : http://th.usembassy.gov/u-s-citizen-services/local-resources-of-u-s-citizens/notaries-public/income-affidavit/ so it SEEMS that there really is NO SUCH THING; it is a pretended , makeup item required from thai and assoc agencies; it is a self deposed , rubber stamped item; 50 USD fee about 1800 baht , plus travel and trouble , advance appt and travel(gas , lodging.food); easily 3000 baht ; for exactly what ? BTW , anyone know if this embassy doc has to be translated into thai by an 'official thai translator' ? if so add 1500 and maybe an extra day; now we are near 5000 baht; and 3 days wasted of your life (( yes i DO understand there might be a mis interpretation here on income vs. 'retirement doc' ; which emphasizes the lack of the latter; if the embassy/consulate doesnt know what that is , then.....) YetAnother
sorry i needed to preamble this whole thing with my official request to them for 'retirement doc' (NOT NOT an 'income doc')
maewang99
what are you complaining about? if you just keep 800k Baht in a bank account, and keep it somewhat active but not below 800k for the 3 months before you renew once a year... all you pay is a small fee at the bank. as for the income method.... it needs to be a procedure that is the same for everyone.... and there is no way to track or prove retirement income as needed for Thai immigration purposes... so you swear to it. and no translation needed... Immigration is quite familiar with the form letter that the US Consulate in Chiangmai, and US Embassy in Bangkok, processes... so it is in English only and 100% okay as is.
