CHONBURI, 26 May 2017 (NNT) - Science and Technology Minister Dr. Atchaka Sibunrueng presided over the opening ceremony of STARTUP THAILAND 2017 at the Geo-Informatics and Technology Development Agency (Public Organization) in Sriracha district, Chonburi province.

The Minister of Science and Technology disclosed that the event is aimed at promoting Thailand's development of technology and innovation by supporting startups, especially a tech-based startup group or fresh entrepreneurs that focus on the use of modern technology.

The event is being held in Chonburi province under the EASTERN RISE concept, to support the Eastern Economic Corridor, and will conclude on 27 May.

The Ministry of Science and Technology estimates that there are currently 30 startups in the province, and as many as 50 to 80 startups in the eastern region.

It seems the best place for start ups is still China.  There is more money available and the Chinese are happy to work with non-Chinese.  Vietnam is interesting too as they are producing a lot of smart, bilingual kids.  Both countries do not use immigration as a way of filling coffers.  They believe in doing business.  Thailand and Technology just does not give one the warm fuzzies.

I remember the last Science minister. Plod, him of the wild animal food restaurant and his solving of the flooding. With the boat props. !

thailand needs to stick to what it is good at. primary produce, foreign manufacturing and tourism. these are tried and true money spinners. stop trying to re invent the wheel and just put some air in the wheels you already have.

Let  me guess....another hub initiative....to be the Hub of Technology Startups.  :coffee1:
