PTT eyes budget hotels and more outlets in its gas stations

BANGKOK: -- PTT Public Company has revived for consideration its shelved project to open budget hotels in its selected gas stations to cater to the need of travelers.

PTT’s assistant president for retailing business Mr Suchart Ramat said the company would reconsider the budget hotel project, with a plan to open budget hotels with 70 rooms at 700 baht per day in selected gas stations on main highways.

He disclosed that 5-6 investors had shown interest in the project, but PTT would select only just one to implement the project.

He went on saying that the company had attached importance to retail stores in compact model in smaller PTT gas stations which currently house convenience store such as 7-Eleven and coffee outlet such as Amazon.

On long trips I only ever stop at PTT because they have everything you want when taking a break from driving. They generally have a food court or restaurant, a 7/11, a little bit of shopping, fuel, clean toilets, and Amazon where if you aren't fussy about coffee you can get your caffeine fix.

Now a few strategically placed hotels might be a great idea. Especially half way between Chiang Mai and Bangkok, or similar long haul routes.

Expensive for a short-time room

Should use the Japanese compartimental lodging concept where you lodge yourself into a space about the size of your eternal rest box.

If this is given the go ahead I can see them turning into mini brothels on the highway. 700 baht per room for a whole day with traffic going through, easy money earner for a clever mama-san.

Yes!  Baby, I need to go get a fill up.  Text me if you need something.

A lot of competition from illegal airbnb style operations springing up all over the country.

PTT is the best thing about this country, it even has clean bogs which are great, nice coffee (not from Amazon) and good food. The kids who serve the fuel are pretty friendly also., I wish the rest of the bog would clean itself up and perform like PTT
