BANGKOK — Starting Thursday, passengers can travel between Suvarnabhumi Airport and Khaosan Road on a bus ride that only costs about as much as the surcharge to use an airport taxi.

At a cost of 60 baht, the new S1 air-conditioned bus runs between BKK and the old quarter, including backpacker hub Khaosan Road and the Sanam Luang royal field.

That is good news.. I have always hated the taxi ride.. last time the driver had his phone set up with a soapy propped up over the speedo...phew!!

would be great, to have buses running from Ekamai bus station to the airport, a bit more central yes i know the BTS gets you there and airport link. but one has to haul your cases to change trains

Any form of public transportation available to us, is a good thing. And any alternative to the taxis, and the massive amount of congestion they create, is also good. This is progressive thinking. Not something we see very much of here in the LOS.

Bus maybe?

Possible.. but from what I've read.. not easy...   Google Don Muang Airport...to Khao San Road...   it seems taxi is most practical..

From Don Mueang can catch A1 bus just outside the terminal and will take you to Chatuchak Park/Mo Chit to enter MRT or BTS network or Victory Monument to minimise taxi fare.

IMHO that is also the fastest way to get to Khao San Road. Take A1 to Chatuchak Park and then change to Bus, I think as mentioned it's the #59.

If you don't mind another change and have light baggage you could take BTS to Phaya Thai station and connect from there to KSR

Edit: Probably the S1 bus is using the tollway so it might also be quite short journey

what if you are at Don Mueang?

how would you get to khao san road?

A new bus service started in early May 2017. The A4 bus is express from Banglumpoo to Don Mueang at a cost of 50bht, and it takes the expressway... Return trip from DM picks up at door 6-8 in arrivals, terminal 1... I've done the return trip, and takes 45-60 minutes. Aircond bus, great service, every 30 mins.

Are you talking about Banglumpoo Place Guesthouse, Banglamphu Market, etc?  Trying to get a better idea of where bus travels.

How close to Khao San Road does this get you?
