Industry Ministry to propose joint work with Japan to foster Thailand 4.0

BANGKOK, 30 May 2017 (NNT) - The Ministry of Industry is preparing to propose cooperation between Thailand and Japan in line with the Kingdom’s Thailand 4.0 agenda at this week’s Cabinet meeting.

Minister of Industry Utama Saowanayon, said today that the proposal is intended to elevate Thailand’s industrial sector to the 4.0 era by signing on to cooperation with Japan. The deal will reform the industrial sector in Thailand as well as its fellow CLMV countries Cambodia, Lao, Myanmar and Vietnam, enhancing them technologically and connecting their trade, investment, production, logistics, services and data sectors.

The updates are to modernize Thai businesses and will include studies on joint investment in the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC) from basic infrastructure to technology personnel.

The agreements are to be signed by Deputy Prime Minister Somkid Jatusripitak during his official visit to Japan next week.

Utama added that all relevant agencies are working to find ways to propel the industrial sector towards the 4.0 era and it is possible a national Industry 4.0 Driving Institute may be established, fusing the Industry Transformation Center and the Industrial Design Center into one. This line of thought is to be further clarified over the next month.

TRANSLATION:

Thailand government wants to borrow more funds from Japan.

The Japanese will be rapped with that idea. As soon as the military junta took power in 2014. Japanese investments dropped by about 85%.

Maybe the PM's personal charm and bonhomie will win the day and the Japanese will come rushing back to the fold happy in the knowledge that they will only ever own 49% of their 100% investment.

My guess is the Japanese are well aware of the Australian company that had their gold mine stolen from them.

The Japanese are very principled business people. That might not fit well with the Thai government.

Thailand 4.0 is looking for beta testers from Japan.

Just pay Japanese companies to do it.  Problem solved
