Pattaya tunnel: Thais fed up of waiting as opening still unannounced

There has been a burst water pipe at the intersection leaking water for more than a week. Traffic lights out. Nearby soi Siam country club rd construction stopped. Nothing seems to be done about it. Can a Thai person involved with Thaivisa.com please call the 1111 number and ask for someone to come and investigate and help fix these major problems. I've heard from a Thai person they got a problem fixed by doing this. Worth a try.

It is great they actually switched off the traffic signals as it was designed as a serious death trap. When the pedestrian signal turned to GREEN to cross dangerous Sukhumvit, cars coming from Pattaya Klang turning right Eastbound towards Jomtien/Sattahip had been given GREEN at the same time, resulting in very dangerous scenes where pedestrians almost were hit by cars - both had GREEN to go, so who do you think is the stronger party eventually? Amazing Thailand....

You dont think that light timings will be tweaked once the whole shebang is operational ?

Who knows. This is Thailand, after all

If by then, a pedestrian has already been killed by an unsuspecting driver following the GREEN LIGHT rules, that does not help the pedestrian much

The Big Dig in Boston took 30 years, with a $24 Billion Dollar over run - so this little thing in Pattaya is right on time in my opinion.  :post-4641-1156694572:

How else did the 1% get so rich? "Organised labour" probably didn't help either.

Back to Thailand. It's apparent to most that making a tunnel instead of an overpass was done for the usual reasons, and an overpass would have been completed years ago. The Thais have every right to be PO about it. It's not just the project itself, it's the chaos that surrounds every large project in LOS making life unbearable for everyone.

Not as though the driver turning right are at the pedestrian crossing at warp speed though, me personally will wait till the whole deal is finished and up and running before making comment (possibly libelous and in breach of forum rules) on the operation if it all.
