While this is a Vietnam story i think it has significance for all of SEA.

lf an external link is forbidden then the summary is this:

After being convicted of having had sex with children in Vietnam and being sentenced to 3 years in a Vietnam prison, this former glam rocker is being returned to GB a free man in Feb, 2007. While he will be subject to close monitoring by the Brits and will be placed on their sex predators list, he will serve no jail time in Britain.

He continues to claims his innocence, but he has already been convicted of having had 'thousands' of child porn images on his computer in GB. The Viet officials also claim to have discovered more on his computer in Vietnam. (But for these he was not charged).

He remains unrepentant and claims he will clear his name and may write a book about his experiences.

(Interesting side note. In the same news feed is a story about how the Brit gov't is considering chemical castration for sex offenders)

Does the phrase ' being returned to the UK' mean he is to be deported from Vietnam, with an enforced return to the UK? Or will be he able to move to another (presumably) Asian country?

Just interested..

he may simply nip back to the UK to sign up a book deal b4 heading back out to asia

i think chemical castration is a little light, they should just surgically remove the "items" with a blunt axe

For starters he should be hanged. drawn and quatered then castrated. chemically neutered. put in the electric chair. decapitated and if he hasn't learnt his lesson made to do community service.

If he was found guilty why the hel_l are they letting him go? What does it take to lock this guy up?

I was hoping the Vietnamese would use him for some urban landfill project...
