Changing address before 1 year exstention or after?

Featured Replies

Tomorrow june 5th I will get the visa change to Non-O completed.  My question is if I move before I apply for the one year exstention based on Retirement would that require me to visit U.S embassy again to get new documents?  What would be the requirements for changing my address after the one year exstention based on retirement is complex?  I am thinking it will be a lot less of a hassle to wait until I get the 1 year exstention to do an address change.  I have not moved yet just inquiring about how it would affect the process   Thank you

Knowing which office you will be doing the applications would help us to answer your questions.

Yes my bad, I am applying in Bangkok imergration at Government complex

If you want to it is possible to do both at CW on the same day.

It may take you two queue numbers however, but if you have the time it is possible to do it on the same day.

In theory, it should be possible to do both at one session, but you may be asking a bit to much of the immigration officer to do that.

If you will be doing the visa and extension applications at the same office you will not need another income affidavit from the embassy.
If moving away from Bangkok it might be best to wait.

What if I move to Hua Hin from Phuket! Should I then do the retirement extension in Phuket before I move or after I have moved.

Thanks

If you are already on an extension you could do it either way.
Just do a change of address at Hua Hin immigration.

Bring along the original and a signed photocopy when you do the change to a non-imm O entry. They should be OK with accepting the copy. You can then use the original for the extension of stay. They will require the original for the extension.

Ok I got my non-o visa no problem but was referring to changing my address. Is it best to do before my one year exstention or after?  I was told I could do the one year exstention next month. This is in Bangkok at CW.  What do I need for change I of address if I wait until after the 1 year exstention?  New Address would still be Bangkok.  Thank you

Since your address is on the Embassy docs, it would seem like a good idea to get the 1-year extension, first.  They might not care if both addresses are in Bangkok - but who knows.

Once on the extension, you could notify them of your new address.  CW doesn't require TM-30 notifications (yet), so not sure you would need to do anything until your first 90-day report - but someone else chime in if there is another address-reporting step he would need to make while on his new 1-year extension.

A TM28 notification?
