How big risk work school without WP?

Featured Replies

Today I got a job offer to work in a private(Chinese) school. I don't have the right paperwork to get a work permit and they know that.

At the moment, the army is making the rules more and more strict so the rules are changing and the immigration is  active to check as far as I know. A couple of years ago I worked a year without any problems and so did many people around me.

As I said, the school is a Chinese school so the immigration is coming there every 3 months to check the Chinese teachers. They all got the right paperwork. They won't put me in the system, I work there and get paid cash every month and that's all good for them. When the immigration is coming, they always let the school know in advance. When we know the day that they are coming, I won't work.

I know the risks and don't want to get banned from the country cause I'm married and got my life over here.

My question is, what are your thoughts about this?

Thanks in advance!

My thoughts are its not worth it
if you cant do it legally then don't do it...

sounds great for the school, not so good for you. 'Nuff said

Another question, what is the penalty if they catch you at the moment. You go out for 100% or you can buy yourself out most of the times...? School is located in the Isaan.

You are a guest in this country, even if married - and remain so unless/until you become a citizen.  Violating the laws while here is very short-sighted, in my opinion.  It also directly negatively-affects the wages of teachers doing your job the legal-way - both Thai citizens and foreigners with work-permits.

Also consider that if you ever want permanent-residence, you need a proper-job for 3 years with a work-permit and paying taxes.

I would definitely find a way to get an honest job, even if it means moving your family to a different town where more opportunities are available.

A fine up to 100,000 baht and/or 5 years in jail and/or deportation  is the penalty for working without work permit under section 51 of  the Alien Working Act. See: Alien Working Act 2551 en - ThaiLaws.pdf

well now you have shared with  us and  god knows who    you may have increased your chances of being discovered by 50 pc   dont do it if you really value as you put it

(I know the risks and don't want to get banned from the country cause I'm married and got my life over here. )

Why do you care about the thoughts of the people reacting here? Will you take the job if you get x positive reactions or reject if you get a few negative ones? We will not even notice if you get arrested or deported.

I think kids deserve a teacher that can do the job properly. Mostly this means the teacher has got some training and papers to prove his/hers qualities.

So don't be so lazy and just study for the TOEFL test and plan an exam https://prep2study.com/toefl/test-centers/thailand

If someone from immigration notifies the school that they are coming for a visit then good chance someone already knows there are illegal workers there.

i think you answered most of your own questions in your op.

personally I would rather be unemployed and looking for a proper legal job than risking everything.

Even before the army were making things more difficult it was still illegal to work without a work permit.

Why wont the school put you on the books? Your married so could get a work permit on your non o or ext. Are you saying your not qualified as a teacher? In which case the school could employ you as a teaching assistant. So again the question is why wont the school put you on the books?
