BANGKOK: -- Crime Suppression Division (CSD) officers escorted super-car importer Panusak Techaterasiri, who is also known as Intharasak and “Boy Unity”, to the Southern Bangkok Criminal Court on Thursday to apply for a court order for his first 12-day detention period.

Officers also objected to his release on bail on the grounds that the charges could carry more than three years in prison and involved significant financial damages, while the suspect might tamper with evidences or flee.

The court was on Thursday considering Panusak’s lawyer application for Bt5-million bail.

Panusak was arrested on a public fraud charge on Wednesday afternoon outside the Central Criminal Court for Corruption and Misconduct Cases after he filed a suit against the Department of Special Investigation over May 24 raids on his showrooms, in which more than 30 vehicles were seized.

Following the arrest, CSD deputy chief Pol Colonel Jirapop Phuridech said the arrest warrant on fraud charge was issued on Tuesday over a complaint filed by a customer who bought a Bt8-million Porsche from the suspect’s firm but had problems with Customs and the police.

Jirapop had said more fraud charges would be filed soon.

So Thai!......

Surely cars of this calibre must have a proven provenance.......they simply can't just be stolen and then resold without the purchasers knowing where the vehicles originated.

If that is the case, then Customs have a lot to answer.....which of course, being a section of the RTP, will not happen.

Corruption and graft at the core of most government enterprises, and they try like hell to look away........it will catch up with them one day...hopefully.

You can contact the manufacturer directly of any luxury car brand with the VIN of said vehicle and they can tell you everything about it; a guy turned up to buy my BMW M3 in the UK and he had a better vehicle history than I had because he'd contacted BMW directly; I would never believe any dealership produced provenance for any luxury vehicle. Everyone lies and I don't believe anyone; check, check and check again ! . . . . . People just don't do the basic checks before parting with their money

Make the bail 15 million baht, then if he becomes a runner, at least the court system will

have a bit of cash from this rich guy

Geezer

I would think he owes a lot more!

The owners may have been in on this scam.

Long timers in Thailand know perfectly well how to avoid taxes by having shippers disassemble their  luxury car in Malaysia,  and have the disassembled vehicle imported as car replacement parts which have a lower Tax on them, and then the dealer reassembles  the cars in Thailand for a small fee/inducement.
