work visa cancellation by confirming the last working day 7 days in advance

Hi,

Can anyone confirm this please?

New Practice for Business Visa Cancellation

Under previous rules, after cancelling a business visa at the Immigration Bureau, an expatriate must leave Thailand before midnight on the same date.

12 July 2013

Otherwise, an overstay penalty of 500 Baht per day (up to 20,000 Baht) must be paid by the expatriate when leaving the Kingdom.

Recently, the Immigration Bureau relaxed this requirement and will now allow the expatriate to submit the visa cancellation application by confirming their last working day 7 days in advance. This is consistent with the practice employed by the One Stop Service Center.

For instance, if an expatriate has agreed their last working day with their employer to be 30 June 2013, they can submit the visa cancellation application at the Immigration Bureau on 23 June 2013.
