Chiang Mai police deploy 3000 officers for New Year Holidays

The Commander of the Chiang Mai provincial police has ideployed over 3000 officers to ensure security during the New Year Holidays.

The Commander of the Chiang Mai provincial police, Pol Maj Gen Bantop Sukhonthaman (บรรฑป สุคนธมาน), revealed that a large number of visitors would be visiting Chiang Mai this year due to the province's cold weather, the Royal Flora Rachaphreuk 2006 exhibition, and the Chiang Mai Count Down 2007.

Pol Maj Gen Bantop said that police should conduct their duties to the utmost of their abilities and ensure the public peace.

The Commander of the Chiang Mai provincial police said that more than 3000 officers have been deployed in significant locations in the event of emergencies. Pol Maj Gen Bantop added that travelers should be cautious with their belongings and their children.

The public are assured that police would be at the scene of the crime within 15 minutes of an emergency call.
